SALES OF ADMISSION FORM FOR 2023/2024 SESSION

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the School of Post Basic Ophthalmic Nursing, National Eye Centre, Kaduna for the 2023/2024 academic session.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS/ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicant must be a registered nurse (RN) with a current practicing license from Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
  2. Have at least one (1) year post qualification experience.
  3. Possess 5 Credits Pass in English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in not more than two (2) sittings (WAEC and/or NECO are acceptable).

APPLICATION GUIDELINE

Application form is obtainable online at www.eyecenter.gov.ng after paying a non-refundable fee of TEN THOUSAND NAIRA ONLY (N10,000) through remita using the process below.

FOR PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FORM

Log into http://www.remita.net and click on pay TSA & States, then select FGN: Federal Government of Nigeria.

Fill the remita billing form using the following format:

  1. Name of MDA that you want to pay: write NATIONAL EYE CENTRE KADUNA
  2. Name of Service/Purpose: Select Education Revolving Fund
  3. Description: write Post Basic Ophthalmic Nursing Form
  4. Amount to pay: write 10,000
  5. Payer’s name, phone number and Email: write Applicant’s full name, phone number and functional Email address.
  6. Confirm all entries are accurately imputed as guided and Submit.
  7. Print payment invoice and proceed to any commercial bank for payment.

FOR FILLING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

  1. Scan recent passport photograph and duly stamped remita payment receipt from the bank.
  2. Read the instructions carefully , fill the application form online and submit.
  3. Upon submission, a summary page will appear, print it out
  4. Bring along the printed application form, original and photocopy (1) each of your credentials, remita payment receipt and two (2) self addressed envelope to the school on the entrance examination day.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES OF THE SCHOOL

  1. (a) Ophthalmic Nursing Diploma (OND)– Duration: 12 calendar months

(b) Advanced Diploma in Community Ophthalmic (ADCON)

Duration – 9months

(c) Refresher Course for Practicing Ophthalmic Nurses in the Federation – Duration – 4 weeks

(d)       Primary Eye Care (PEC) –  Duration  : 4 weeks

(e)       Basic Nursing on training – Duration : 4 weeks

(f)        School of Health Technology Training – Duration: 4weeks

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

The Ophthalmic Nursing programme shall be for 12months of two semesters. from November of a particular year to the next November.

The programme involves both theoretical and practical exposure of students.

1.5       YEARLY ADMISSION PERIOD:        February           –      May

1.6       LOCATION OF PROGRAMME

The programme is located at the School of Post Basic Ophthalmic Nursing, National Eye Centre, Kaduna, P.M.B. 2267 Kaduna.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for admission into the School :

(1)A  minimum of five credit passes in SSCE or GCE in the following subjects at not more than two (2) sittings:  English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Combination of results from different examination bodies such as WASC and NECO is acceptable.

(2) Candidate must be a registered Nurse/Midwife with a minimum of one year post registration/working experience.

 (3) Holder of current practicing license.

      3     CLINICAL EXPERIENCE AREAS: Hospital’s Primary Care Clinic   (PCC), Wards, Consulting Clinics,   Theatre and Optical Workshop.  Community experience at Satellite Clinics at Government Health                       Centre Kawo, Malali, Kurmin Gwari, Magajin Gari, (within Kaduna Metropolis),etc.  It also includes outreaches in some communities   within and outside Kaduna.  This also includes industries and  schools.

 

One of the major achievements of the School of Post Basic Ophthalmic Nursing is the full accreditation status awarded to the School by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria after the accreditation exercise It is the only school that has full accreditation status in the Federation
