The Directorate of Administration at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, serves as the backbone of the institution, ensuring its smooth operation and providing the administrative framework needed to achieve the Centre’s mandate. According to the approved organogram, the Directorate comprises four key divisions, each with distinct roles and responsibilities:

  1. Human Resources Division:
    This division is responsible for managing the Centre’s workforce, including recruitment, onboarding, promotions, and performance evaluations. It oversees staff welfare, ensures compliance with employment policies, and provides training and development opportunities to enhance the capacity and efficiency of all personnel.
  2. Planning and General Administration Division:
    Tasked with organizational planning and coordination, this division ensures that the Centre’s operational goals align with its long-term vision. It manages general administrative tasks, facilitates interdepartmental communication, and oversees logistics to maintain operational efficiency.
  3. Management Services Division:
    This division handles critical management functions, including policy implementation, resource allocation, and operational monitoring. It ensures that all departments function in harmony and that administrative services are delivered effectively to support the Centre’s core activities.
  4. Works or Maintenance Division:
    Focused on the upkeep and maintenance of the Centre’s facilities, this division ensures that all infrastructure, equipment, and utilities are in optimal condition. It oversees repair work, preventive maintenance, and the development of new projects to provide a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Role and Responsibilities

At the helm of the Directorate is the Director of Administration, who supervises all four divisions, providing leadership and ensuring that every aspect of the Centre’s administration operates seamlessly. The Directorate handles all matters critical to the effective functioning of the Centre, making it a vital pillar of support for the organization.

Key responsibilities of the Directorate include:

  1. Effective Staffing:
    The Directorate ensures that the Centre is adequately staffed with qualified and competent personnel. It handles the recruitment process, staff deployment, and workforce planning to meet the Centre’s operational needs.
  2. Training and Staff Development:
    To foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, the Directorate organizes training programs, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts ensure that staff remain up-to-date with the latest trends, skills, and practices in their respective fields.
  3. Cleanliness and Security:
    The Directorate oversees the maintenance of a clean and safe working environment. It ensures that the Centre adheres to hygiene standards and that security measures are in place to protect staff, patients, and property.
  4. Discipline and Welfare:
    Upholding discipline within the Centre is a core responsibility of the Directorate. It also prioritizes staff welfare by addressing their needs, fostering a positive work culture, and implementing motivation strategies to enhance productivity and job satisfaction.
  5. Work Environment and Staff Motivation:
